You will be picked up at your hotel and transferred to the nearby venue with delightful views over lush rice fields. You will feel like you have left Luang Prabang in this tranquil setting. You will learn about the importance of the ubiquitous bamboo plant within Lao culture. Experience bamboo hunting, bamboo weaving, an interactive cooking class, and have the chance to play the Khaen.
We will take you to a rustic pavilion modeled on a traditional Lao house, perched in a picturesque setting next to rice fields. You will listen to an entertaining introduction to the importance of bamboo to Lao culture and the use of bamboo in a diverse range of household items found in rural Lao dwellings. Try your skills at crossbow shooting and walking on bamboo stilts! Give pounding sticky rice a go with a traditional Pestle & Mortar. You’ll weave a souvenir bamboo mat and enjoy a fun, interactive cooking class, using the bamboo plant as the key ingredient. After enjoying your lunch, listen to the Hmong Khen “bamboo instrument” performance and try playing it yourself before attempting the Kamu bamboo dancing “Skipping poles”
